To walk by faith, to be a voice of hope, and to be known by love

Adult Ministries

During the Sunday School hour during Lent we have 3 Adult group options

STEPPING UP – MEN’S STUDY (Facilitated by Pastor James in his study)

Starting March 1, 2020

Dig deeper into what it means to step up and live a courageous life with Stepping Up: A Call to Courageous Living Men’s Study.  Based on his book by the same title, Dennis Rainey, along with Matt Chandler, Bill Bennett, Tony Dungy, Robert Lewis, Voddie Baucham, Stu Weber, and others unpack what biblical manhood looks like and what it means to be a godly, courageous man in today’s world.

Through engaging stories, expert teaching, humorous vignettes, man-on-the-street interviews, and personal insights, these men’s ministry leaders call every man to become courageous leaders in their own lives, marriages, churches, and communities.  Accompanied by small-group discussion and individual follow-up exercises, men of every age will learn action tools for gospel-centered living to empower them to be true heroes in their families and communities.

Men from Pleasant and the community are welcome to participate!  If you have further questions, contact Pastor James at (814) 363-3132.

APPLYING THE PSALMS TO LIFE – MIXED GROUP  (Facilitated by Larry Johnson in the Fellowship Hall)

Starting March 1, 2020.

During the season of Lent, we will be journeying through the season with the psalms as our guide.  The psalms give us a glimpse of the “soul” of God’s people. They are full of emotion; joy and lament, thanksgiving and hardships.  Jesus would have learned and used the psalms, just as he did in his final days and even from the cross.

Men and women from Pleasant and the community are welcome to participate!  The Psalms covered will include:  Psalm 32, 121, 95, 23, and 130 (In this order).

During the same hour, from 9:30-10:30 am on Sundays, we have additional small groups for women, children, and youth as well.  These small groups offer us an excellent opportunity to exercise our First Call, our interior relationship with Jesus, and sharpen and serve one another.

THE ROCK, THE ROAD, THE RABBI – WOMEN’S STUDY  (Facilitated by Larry Johnson in the Fellowship Hall)

Starting on March 8, 2020.

As a lifelong student of Scripture, Kathie Lee Gifford has always desired a deeper understanding of God’s Word and a deeper knowledge of God Himself. But it wasn’t until she began studying the biblical texts in their original Hebrew and Greek—along with actually hiking the ancient paths of Israel—that she found the fulfillment of those desires.

Now you can walk with Kathie on a journey through the spiritual foundations of her faith:

The Rock (Jesus Christ): Hear directly from Kathie about her life-changing and ever-deepening connection with Jesus, the Lover of her soul.

The Road (Israel): Explore dozens of ancient landmarks and historical sites from Israel, the promised land of God’s covenant.

The Rabbi (God’s Word): Go beyond a “Sunday school” approach to the Bible by digging into the original languages and deeper meanings of the Holy Scriptures.

As you journey through The Rock, The Road, and The Rabbi, you’ll also find additional content from Messianic Rabbi Jason Sobel throughout the book. Jason’s insight into the Hebrew language, culture, and heritage will open your eyes to the Bible like never before.

Come! Begin your journey toward a deeper faith through The Rock, the Road, and the Rabbi.

There is a Men’s Bible Study at the Peppermill Restaurant in Warren each Tuesday morning at 7:00 AM called Forge Men!

Three Additional Women’s groups exist within the church.  One is a weekly “Women’s Bible Study” that meets on Wednesday mornings at 10:00 am at the church.  Another is called “Faith Circle” and meets the second Monday of each month at 12:30 pm at the church to support various mission project needs.  The third is called “Titus 2 Women” and meets on Saturdays (which will be announced) at 9:30 am at the church to teach one another about home, marriage, scripture, pray and support one another.
