The Chosen: Season 1

This Fall, beginning Sunday, Sept. 14, families are invited to come together at 9:45 am, in the Fellowship Hall, to watch and discuss the groundbreaking television series about the life of Jesus, “The Chosen.”

At the heart of the series, is the question:
What Does It Mean to Be Chosen?

Together, we will see that being chosen by Jesus has beautiful and far-reaching implications – although it says even more about the Chooser than the choosees. We are loved because He is love. We are saved because He is merciful. We belong to the family of God because Jesus invites us, making the Bible and all its promises as true for us today as it was for God’s chosen people.

What does it actually mean to be Chosen? To answer that question, we’re going Old (school) – Testament that is – which leads us back to the New. Which always leads us directly to Jesus. Along with the series, participants will receive a copy of Amanda Jenkins, Dallas Jenkins, and Dr. Douglas S. Huffman’s Bible Study book, “What Does It Mean to Be Chosen?: An Interactive Bible Study resource which compliments the series. After viewing part or the whole of each episode, we will break into table groups for discussion, utilizing the study book and our Bibles.

Listen to what other brothers and sisters are saying about this series…

“I have truly been enjoying the series “The Chosen”. This has helped me to understand some of the story much better. I love the fact it always points back to the truth of the Bible.”

“My church lifegroup did this study. It is an amazing study. I was definitely all in through this study. I completely recommend it. I am looking forward to the season 2 study!”

There is a Men’s Bible Study at the Church each Monday evening at 6:00 and Tuesday morning at 8:00 AM!

NEW SMALL GROUP BIBLE STUDY

FOR MEN – Beginning Monday, Sept. 8, 6:00 pm, and Tuesday, Sept. 9, 8:00 am

Did you know that Jesus spent more time talking about how we manage and invest our time, talents, possessions, and money than about the end times, Heaven, or Hell combined. But too often we’ve overlooked or misunderstood his most profound teachings on these topics, from his words in Matthew 6. Jesus offers us life-changing investment advice. He actually wants us to store up treasures for ourselves—just not here on earth. Instead, he urges us to store our treasure in heaven, where they will await us, and last forever. We can’t take it with us—but we can send it on ahead!

Through this study participants will be moved from the realms of thoughtful Bible exposition into the highly personal arena of everyday life. Because when Jesus told His followers to “lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,” He intended that they discover an astounding secret: how joyful giving brings God maximum glory and His children maximum pleasure. Through this study, participants will unearth a radical teaching of Jesus—a secret wrapped up in giving. Once you discover this secret, life will never look the same. And you won’t want it to be.

“The Treasure Principle” is based on Randy Alcorn’s bestselling book bearing the same title. Pastor James will be further unpacking these life-giving, grace-filled, and joy-producing principles in his preaching on Sundays this fall.

The Places We Get Stuck and the God Who Sets Us Free!

So many of us live stuck. Stuck trying to seem perfect. Stuck in sadness. Stuck feeling numb. Stuck pursuing more stuff to make us happy. Stuck in something we can’t even name. These stuck places often go unattended inside of us and they are shaping our lives more than we would like to think. We’ve been trying to fix this feeling with everything but… God. He has a plan for these spaces inside of us, the places we feel broken, but we have to go to Him. Stuck is a journey to take an honest look at the fight going on inside, leading us to the God who has a plan to restore it, to restore us!

NEW SMALL GROUP BIBLE STUDY FOR WOMEN

Beginning Wednesday, Sept. 10, 10:30 am | Facilitated by Renée Magnuson

Do angels really have wings? Do they protect people from harm? Can people become angels after death?

Misconceptions about angels abound – in books, in movies and on talk shows.

So, with the Holy Bible in one hand and Douglas Connelly’s eight-session LifeGuide resource in the other, participants will explore what the Bible really teaches about angels, including their service to God and their ministry to people.

This small group study is for women of PCC, as well as their friends and family members!
