ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS
The Chosen: Season 3
Beginning Sunday, Sept. 13, 9:45 am, in the Fellowship Hall, we will begin with “The Introduction & Making” of The Chosen (Season 3). On the Sundays that follow, we will view and discuss each of the eight episodes of Season 3. The scriptural passages/stories depicted in each episode, along with study notes/questions will be made available to participants. This is particularly helpful in preparing for viewing, or in the event one misses the episode all together.
SETTING… We all have to choose: the wide road that leads to destruction or the narrow path that leads to life. The third season of the groundbreaking television show, The Chosen, picks up with how Jesus’ followers apply His teaching to their lives. After Jesus delivers the most impactful sermon in history, the disciples assume life will improve now that they’re following the Messiah. Judas has joined the group, Simon and Eden are reunited, and everyone is ready to live out His teachings.
But problems emerge quickly. The pressure increases from the Romans and the religious leaders, and with thousands of pilgrims pursuing Jesus, the disciples can’t decide if they should hide or fight. They get even more confused when they face everything from a marital crisis to a disastrous mission and Jesus doesn’t immediately provide solutions.
It all reaches a stunning climax when Jesus and the disciples are surrounded by over 5,000 people in a dangerous region, and with tensions high, they run out of food…until a little boy with five loaves and two fishes shows up.

The Gospel of John.
What makes John so special is that it is…
- The Last Gospel. John offers a beautiful vision of the person and work of Jesus.
- The most personal. Unlike the other Gospel writers, John inserts himself into the story in more direct ways.
- The most beloved Gospel. Most people say it is their favorite, resonating with people in a special way.
- The most distinctive gospel. John tells some of the most beloved stories like Jesus changing water into wine, Jesus’ conversion of Nicodemus, Jesus and the woman at the well, the resurrection of Lazarus, the washing of the disciples’ feet, and the entire garden discourse (chapters 14-17).
- The most theological. John affirms in depth a number of theological truths, like the humanity and divinity of Jesus.
- The most “plain” Gospel. John outlines clearly the way to eternal life. It is John who records the most famous line in the Bible, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son” (3:16).
Each participant will be given a copy of the Life Application Study Book with thought-provoking questions for personal and group reflection/discussion, the full text of the book of John, and commentary notes throughout.
Participants will gain a solid understanding of Jesus and His ministry, God’s Word, and application to everyday life.

WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY… Beginning on Monday and Wednesdays, Sept. 14 and 16, @ 6:00 pm and 10:30 am, respectively, Women Ministries is offering Max Lucado’s study, “TAME YOUR THOUGHTS … Three Tools to Renew Your Mind and Transform Your Life.
Have you been feeling weighed down by worry? Or caught up in a web of self-critical thoughts? The good news is that with God’s help, you can learn to renew your mind, break free from negative patterns, and become a little more like Jesus every day. This Bible study explores three scripture-based tools for managing your thoughts:
- Practice Picky Thinking: Monitor the airspace of your thoughts and don’t allow the destructive ones to land.
- Identify UFOs: Scan for any untruths that are creating false narratives that are leading to overreactions.
- Uproot and Replant: Don’t let the ugly weeds of Satan’s lies grow. Pull them up by the roots and replace them with God’s truth.
These three tools will help you take every thought captive and test the messages that replay in your mind against the truth of God’s Word. You will also learn to overcome common thought traps like anxiety, guilt, rejection, dissatisfaction, and more. No matter who you are or where you come from, progress is possible.
This small group study is for women of PCC, as well as their friends and family members!

Sept 11-13: Women’s Retreat @ Camp Mission Meadows
